What I eat Wednesday – my last day in Paris

I left Paris this morning and am comfortably settled in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as I write this post. This video shows you everything I ate yesterday and how I make my favourite raw salad. I ate A LOT since I needed to use up everything. I was absolutely stuffed by the end of the day but…

My first week as a raw vegan

My first week as a raw vegan

My vegan diet has changed significantly since I first went vegan in 2008. (The evolution of my diet from this past year can be found in My diet is simple.) I tried a raw vegan diet briefly when I first went vegan but could never maintain it because I wasn’t eating enough calories. I was also…

Low carb works, but low fat works better

Low carb works, but low fat works better

To clarify the title: low carb might work for short-term weight loss, but high carb low fat works better for the short-term and the long-term. The high carb lifestyle is healthy and doesn’t require calorie counting or restriction for weight loss and management. How do we lose weight? Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit. A…

Carbs vs. fat: it does matter!

August 11, 2016 By vegannomadchick 3 Comments

This post is a response to the article Carbs vs. fat – which is the real devil? by fellow vegan blogger Tobias Sjösten. He offers the other side of the coin to my post from Monday, Low carb diets never work. In Low carb diets never work, my argument was that low carb diets aren’t sustainable for…

What I eat Wednesday.

August 10, 2016 By vegannomadchick 2 Comments

What I eat Wednesday.

Because of the popularity of previous What I eat in a day posts, every Wednesday from this point on will be dubbed What I eat Wednesday! This means every Wednesday I will upload a video to my YouTube channel showing everything I eat in a day and post corresponding Cronometer screenshots and commentary here on…

YouTube: here I come!

August 9, 2016 By vegannomadchick Leave a Comment

I started a YouTube channel this week! It’s been a long time coming, but I finally buckled down and did it. I’ve included my first videos here. I’m hoping to use this channel as another way for me to promote a healthy vegan lifestyle in addition to minimalistic travel. I will still write on this…

  • Happy New Year!
•
Thanks to Kuba for these photos from Marrakesh. 🇲🇦
•
I’ve been off social media for two weeks now and it feels great. Staying offline while visiting Morocco meant I had more time to focus on things that matter to me, more time to read, more time to enjoy life, and more time to focus on my passion: videography!
•
I’m going to keep this up for the next year. That means no Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Tumblr. So once I post this, I’m signing off for a full year.
•
Over the next few weeks, I’ll share our Marrakesh adventures on my channel. My first episode will be public Friday Jan 4th (unless you’re a patron—episode 1 is already posted on my Patreon news feed).
•
And soon we’ll be in Greece and India for several weeks. I can’t wait to film it all!
•
If you want to see what I’m up to, check out my YouTube channel (Vegan Nomad Chick)

I’ll only post updates on those platforms.

Thanks for your support!! See you in 2020. 😊

  • Sometimes the sun comes out in Kraków. 😍 This sunset is from the other day. Seeing and feeling the sun on my skin makes me so happy. 🌅 I take a Vitamin D supplement but it isn’t the same as real sunshine. I’m ready for Marrakesh! 🌞❣️😎

  • Happy holidays from Kraków! 👋🎄😁 We don’t celebrate Christmas but we do have a little December getaway planned just so we can have a break from this grey, rainy and sometimes snowy weather. We’re looking forward to a Vitamin D boost! 😎☀️🇲🇦

  • Our grocery haul today minus the bread because we ate it on the way home. I had an olive ciabatta and @roaming_kuba had a seedy loaf. 🍞💪
•
The Lindt dark chocolate bar is for another batch of lentil brownies. 😜 We eat canned diced tomatoes 🇭🇷 almost every day in a veggie sauce with mushrooms, bell pepper, carrots, (and zucchini). We have onion every other day or so. We eat lots of bananas and apples every day so these won’t last long, probably two days! 🍎🍏🍌
•
Committing to plastic-free produce means we can’t always eat the fruit and veggies we want (like berries, grapes, celery, and even broccoli now...😢) because they come wrapped in plastic. That’s okay though!
•
We still have plenty of tasty options. 👍
•
My reusable cloth produce bags are from iHerb.com. If you use my discount code LIS5621, you’ll save 5% off your order. 😉

  • We hiked Trzy Korony yesterday. 👑👑👑 It was actually sunny at one point! The hike was pretty easy and picturesque through the snowy woods. We even had brownies at the top. 🍫🥰 A great day!!

•
We’re lucky to have several shops with bulk bins here in Kraków. Unfortunately, not all shops offer them. 😢
•
If you’re inspired to reduce your plastic waste but don’t have access to bulk bins, check out my latest blog post on vegannomadchick.com 😁 I offer five tips to help you cut back.
•
If you have any tips, I’d like to hear them too. Thank you!
