Day trip from Dublin: Bray and Greystones.

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. Usually, I struggle on the weekends because I’m never sure what to do. It’s too cold to be wandering around outside all day, I’m trying to not spend so much money, and I don’t feel like hanging out in the middle of a busy city where the majority of people are hell-bent on shopping 24/7. BUT thanks to my new friend Sheila (from Instagram) my weekend was fantastic!

I spent the night at my friend Sheila’s on Saturday since we planned a wee day trip south of Dublin for Sunday. We took a train to Bray (around 30-40 minutes) and then walked 7km along the Cliff Walk out to Greystones. The walk was fairly easy and only took us an hour and a half. And luckily, the weather wasn’t too bad either.

In Greystones, we lunched at The Happy Pear, and all-vegetarian restaurant with loads of fresh, wholesome vegan options! This is my favourite place for eating out in Dublin so far. Too bad it’s a bit of a journey outside of Dublin, but at least I’ll save some money by not eating there every other day.

The past few weeks in Dublin haven’t been the easiest for me but thanks to Sheila, I’ve actually had some fun here! Our day trip to County Wicklow and this past weekend are some of the highlights of my time here.

I’m so lucky to have met a new friend here in Dublin!

  1. Not sure if you’re still here but you should give the Howth Head Loops Walk a try (you can see it from the cliff walk across Dublin Bay). And Glendalough in Co. Wicklow is lovely too for a walk, there’s a daily bus from Dawson Street I think. And you probably know this already but Sova Vegan Butcher is amazing for a nice vegan meal 🙂 Hope you’re enjoying your time here, the public transport for exploring the country is a bit poor sadly but there are a lot of places within reach if you do some research. Enjoy your trip 🙂

    1. Thank you! I’m still here for a few more days. I’ll see if I can take a bus to the Howth Head Loops Walk, I’d love to do that! My friend Sheila and I went to Glendalough the other week. It was absolutely stunning! Unforunately I haven’t tried Sova yet, but the photos on Instagram look amazing. A proper fancy sit-down vegan experience! Thank you so much for these tips. 🙂
