I’ve been in Split for over a week now. My boyfriend arrives today and I haven’t been able to focus on anything else! I’m amazed that I’ve been able to complete my ‘What I eat‘ video and blog posts this week.
Split is the second largest city in Croatia, located on the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
Prior to planning this Euro trip, Croatia wasn’t even on my radar. I had heard of it but knew nothing about the country or this part of the world. I’ve only scratched the surface of everything Croatia has to offer, with a week in Rijeka and a week in Zagreb.
The weather is Split is warm and the watermelon delicious, but Zagreb was more my speed as far as cities go: very clean with plenty of green spaces, fewer tourists, and fast public wi-fi. I haven’t explored much besides the main market here. Not surprisingly, blogging, filming, and editing take up a lot of my time, so I’m stuck inside working on my laptop for a good chunk of time each day.
My goal for this next week is to get outside, walk more, and take photos. I’m planning to wander about Park Šuma Marjan, a large forested hill on the city’s peninsula this weekend with my boyfriend. Hopefully, we catch some nice views of the city below!
After these two weeks in Split are complete, I’m off to the island of Korčula for a month. I’ll be staying in a wee flat on the eastern side of the island near the small town of Korčula. (The island and this town share the same name.)
I’m a bit anxious about taking a ferry to the island since I haven’t been on a boat in years and I always get sea-sick. I will be stuck on the ferry for less than three hours, though, so hopefully I don’t get too nauseous! (If you have any natural remedies for motion sickness, let me know. I’ve tried candied ginger before and it worked well for bus trips.)
Have a great weekend! These next few days with my boyfriend will be a much-needed boost!
