Nomad plans for this summer.

My travel plans are rarely set in stone. I do like to purchase plane tickets well in advance because they tend to be cheaper, but my itinerary remains flexible even with these flights in my schedule. If I do change my mind, I can always book an additional flight or find another way to get to my destination.

I find this flexibility freeing but nevertheless I get worried about my future travel plans. It isn’t necessarily a bad worry, but I’ll start dwelling on all the uncertain parts, like where I will be living for the next few months once I leave Scotland at the end of May. At times, I feel like my mind has dozens of tabs open and I can’t relax.

Fortunately, on one anxiety-fueled sleepless night a few months ago, I booked a bunch of flights around Europe. Now I have the first few months tentatively planned out.

This is my schedule so far:

  • May 30 – June 18: Berlin, Germany.
  • June 18 – July 1: Poznań, Poland.
  • July 1 – July 6: Berlin (round 2).
  • July 6 – July 20: Majorca, Spain.
  • July 20 – Aug. 3: Barcelona, Spain.
  • Aug. 3 – Aug. 27: Paris, France.

I’m not sure where I’ll be for September, October, or November, but I have some ideas. I will probably visit Croatia and Ireland during those months.

I’m lucky that I will be staying with my boyfriend and his family while in Poland, but for the rest of my adventures, I will rely on couch surfing. I may need to book a hostel for Majorca but I will wait until the last minute to do so…I’d really like to couch surf instead.

I only couch surfed once (officially) the first time I visited London last year.

Have you couch surfed before? How did you like it?
